Canon announced yesterday the arrival of the shiny new EOS-1D x camera, the flagship of a new generation of professional digital SLR. According to the manufacturer, it offers an unparalleled combination of speed, resolution and image quality… yeah, whatever.
The camera sure looks great and the specs are pretty impressive, as well as the price tag of almost 7.000 dollars. Way out of my league. Actually, the camera is designed and thought for photojournalists and people who need to shoot faster than the light. I don’t need that.
The thing that gets my attention about this camera is the new processor “DIGIC 5”, because that is the processor that will probably be in the new Canon EOS 5D Mark III. And that camera, man, that one I really want it. It will not make me a better photographer, I know. But it will make me look cool.
Actually, I don’t think too much about all these new digital cameras. I’m very happy with my 5D Mark II and all the “real” film cameras I own. I think I will buy a Canon AE-1 Program and enjoy some analog shooting for a while now.
